About O'Connor's Corner

The namesake for O'Connor's Corner comes from a friend, Mark O'Connor, who passed away in January 2025. It sounds cliché, but Mark lived life to its fullest and with passion, pushing his mind body and spirit to the limits, savoring the depth of the human experience. Mark loved hockey, and would never pass up an opportunity to lace up the skates, throw on his Habs jersey and commiserate after the game over a beer. He would have championed Morgan's bold act of quitting the 9-5 to follow his dreams.

About Morgan Haavaldsen

At its core, O'Connor's Corner was founded through a lifelong passion for sport and community. Morgan, a Hinton local obsessed with hockey and skating, eventually came to terms with the fact that he wouldn't be drafted in the NHL - that hasn't stopped him from obsessing over the sport and continuously working to learn the game. After a decade spent in the bike industry, he decided it was time to follow that passion. 

Morgan is someone who sees the potential in others, and wants to support the growth of sport in our community on an individual and community level.

Mission Statement

To provide an inclusive space for youth and adults to share the love of sport. O'Connor's Corner is just a stepping stone and part of a greater vision to improve youth access to sport, recreation, and mentorship in our community.

To work with individuals and learn how my skate servicing can help me understand the type of athlete they are, to grow with them and find what works best to unlock the best they can be.

What We Offer

For now - We are only offering Hockey and Ringette equipment for the fall and winter season of 2026. Next spring Hinton can rely on us for baseball, soccer and more.

When it comes to our own skates, we have very high standards. Through an obsession with the sport and skating, we aim to provide a no compromise approach when it comes to your skates. If you don't like the sharpening product, let's work together to find what it is you like and dial it in.

Skate repairs such as rivet replacements and holder replacements.

From helmets and pads to sticks and skates, we carry a wide selection of hockey gear and accessories.

Local delivery options on purchases/services. Simply drop off your equipment with the staff during the day, go home and then your skates will be brought to your door.
